WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 11
PLOT, GAMEPLAY, SANDBOX, AND MONETIZATION SPOILERS BELOW. DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY THE SEASON AS INTENDED
Plot:
[REDACTED], a [REDACTED] who is recalling the summer when he began his [REDACTED], has been [REDACTED] from his low-level [REDACTED] at [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and has moved into a [REDACTED], where he hopes to devote some months to [REDACTED]. While he is working on [REDACTED], he is drawn into the lives of [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], fellow boarders at the [REDACTED], who are involved in an intense and difficult [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] is beautiful, [REDACTED], and [REDACTED], and a survivor of the [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]; [REDACTED] is a Jewish-American, and, purportedly, a genius. Although [REDACTED] claims to be a [REDACTED] and a cellular biologist with a pharmaceutical company, it is later revealed that this is a fabrication. Almost no one—including [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]—knows that [REDACTED] has paranoid schizophrenia. He sometimes behaves quite normally and generously, but there are times when he becomes frighteningly jealous, violent, abusive and [REDACTED].
The rest of the story will be played out in lore cards, short dialogue pieces, and the moment you connect two dots about something while rummaging through your fridge.
Gameplay:
The primary gameplay loop of the season will be completing a series of arena style fights in gorgeous areas for a specific plot reason. Weapons will be awarded upon completion.
Multiple weapons can be earned at a time if certain conditions are met. A vendor will provide additional sources for weapons and mods.
One of these mods will be hella overpowered for hunters in Crucible.
Sandbox:
Aside from several mods being busted in high-level PVP, the community will write off the benefits of the rest of the seasonal mod pool until Ehror puts out a video about how they are all actually amazing.
A specific weapon will be very highly used in PVP because it breaks one of the following: ammo economy/ease of use/lack of downside.
A new weapon perk will dominate PVE until people realize that Outlaw+Kill Clip/Rampage+Subsistence is still better.
The community will complain about sun-setting and then slowly realize over the next three seasons that it's exactly what the game, dev team, and community needed. As long as weapon/build viability is kept diverse and expanded upon through new and interesting perks enabled by implicit obsolescence, and specific outliers are tuned individually, end-game content will thrive.
They will never admit they were wrong (future season feature).
Monetization:
Bungie will add things to the Eververse store. r/DTG will lose their [REDACTED].
(Plus Bonus Source and Counter Source!)
